About the Event
After over 16 years of law enforcement experience, I ultimately came to specialize in investigating human trafficking and online exploitation cases. I knew all too well the devastating effects that predators on social media apps, online gaming platforms, email phishing scams, mass text message traps, and more, had on children and families.
When my own children hit their pre-teen years, I knew I needed to develop a plan to teach them healthy online habits, equip them to navigate online dangers, and how to identify the red flags that can lead to exploitation. But, I also learned that in order to succeed, my wife and I would have to foster a family culture built on safety and trust, so that if our children found themselves in a dangerous situation online or in person, they knew they could come to us and we would love them and help them.
Drawing on my experience with cases I investigated and utilizing real examples of online exploitation and grooming, I began to build GUARDRAILS, a training for parents to understand and implement the fundamentals of online safety for their children. This training will equip you to understand and navigate online dangers. You will walk away with a reference guide to help you construct your own GUARDRAILS specific to your needs and teach your children how to spot red flags and conduct their own safety checks, equipping and empowering them to be an online survivor.
